Because exercise makes your heart pump harder and faster than it does during most daily activities, an exercise stress test can reveal problems within your heart that might not be noticeable otherwise.

Spirometry

  • Is a pulmonary function test and is commonly done to see how well your lungs work. A spirometry is used to measure how much air the lungs can hold and how well the respiratory system is able to move air into and out of the lungs. Spirometry is often used to diagnose and monitor lung problems such as:
  • Chronic bronchitis
  • Emphysema
  •  Pulmonary fibrosis
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
  • Asthma.

Bone Density

  • A bone density test determines if you have osteoporosis - a disease that causes bones to become more fragile and more likely to break. In the past, osteoporosis could be detected only after you broke a bone. By that time, however your bones could be quite weak. A bone density test makes it possible to know your risk of breaking bones before that fact. A bone density test uses X-rays to measure how many grams of calcium and other bones minerals are packed into a segment of bone. The bones that are most commonly tested are located in the spine, hip and forearm.
